Special Property: An important Village House

Date: 10/12/2009

This important village house, some 250 years old, has been lovingly restored to today's standards but retaining many original features. Located at the top of the hill there are views across the village and to the valley, village life, shops restaurants and bars are all just a short walk away as are the banks and the post office.

Entered through imposing double doors, on the ground floor is found a study/office and the entrance to the cave/shop, extending around the full width of the building, and part of the village terraces, this area is still to be refurbished and leads to the original shop door exiting back to the street.

From the entrance doors the main flight of stairs ascend to the first floor where the lounge, with glazed double doors to the patio, start the flow through to the dining room, again with glazed doors to the first floor balcony, then through to the library. All rooms here lead back onto a wide garden lobby, having glazed double doors to the patio garden, and a superb characterful kitchen with walk-in larder, plus a utility room and guest cloakroom with handbasin and shower.

From the top of the main stairs a further flight ascends to the bedroom floor, at the top is a beautifully fitted bathroom with a marble top vanity unit, bathtub with shower and hand painted wall tiles. A main corridor extends the full width of the property past 2 generous double bedrooms and a large single, to the master bedroom spanning the full depth of the house and with a dressing room and large bathroom fitted with king size bathtub and separate shower unit plus a marble top vanity unit with twin handbasins.

Views from the bedrooms span across the village rooftops to the tree clad mountainside of Picota. The house has retained many of its original chestnut floorboards and wooden decorative ceilings plus the original rustic doors, door locks and internal window shutters.

Outside there is a compact 'easy care' patio garden and door to a side passage, the house is centrally heated and has full mains services from the village, including fresh mountain spring water from every tap.

Whilst all the major refurbishment is complete scope still remains for further easy enhancement and the opportunity for the new owner to make their mark. For more informations, please click here.
